Rag Quilt

This is a baby rag quilt.  Small amounts of fabric and just made in strips.

Here is my 3 year old daughter showing how big/small it is.

There are a few things that I will do differently next time, but am happy with how it turned out.  And my daughter sure LOVES it!

Oerm Family Reunion Quilt 2010

Each year for our family reunion in June, one family does a quilt for the prize raffle.
This year I spoke up and make the MOST fun quilt I have ever made!

It is called "Turning Twenty: Around the Block"

It is made up of 20 Fat Quarters and then fabric for the center blocks,
along with the accent color fabric.  I could have quilted this quilt but chose to tie it instead.
I think it turned out AMAZING!

Not only that but I found the PERFECT fabric for the back!  The picture does not do it justice.  You can definitely see the black and white, but there was the tiniest amount of yellow in it that tied the whole quilt together.

I do have to say that this quilt went together surprisingly faster than any other quilt that I have done.
I am so lucky to have these wonderful patterns that I can follow to create pieces of artwork!
One down, MANY more to come!

Embroidery

This was done for a friend that was on a bowling league.
They have four team members and wanted their logo on the back of their shirts,
as well as each of their names on the front of their shirts.
They work for The Mending Shed.
 Here is the HOT STUFF!

First the front of the shirts.  Just the name of one of the team members.
Here is the design on the back:
And here is the design on the back showing the whole shirt and the proportion to the shirt.
This was the first embroidery that I had done for a paying customer.
Boy was this a learning experience and am thankful for the opportunity to have done it.
Nothing like practice.

To tell you a little more on how it was done:
They sent me an image that was then uploaded and transferred into the embroidery
system and converted to a design.  Then working on stitch placement and fixing small details.

Each design took just about an hour on the machine, and stitch count was just above 25,000.

The Beginning!

Welcome to the Beginning!!!

I am so excited to share this journey with all of you.
These postings will be not updates as often as I would like.
I am just starting out in sewing and have done a few projects so I am starting
to share them all with you.

A little about me.
I am a: wife to a wonderful man,
a mother to two  beautiful girls,
and
a woman that expresses herself in unique ways.
I have bee married to my husband for 4 wonderful years and am looking
forward to the future!
I am starting this blog to not only share with you all the wonderful sewing tips and tricks,
(which I will be learning them along with you),
and the many ideas that can be created beautifully with just a piece of fabric and thread, but to pass along the word that sewing is not old fashioned.

This is such an AMAZING trait to have and nurture!
Feel free to leave comments and questions on any and all posts and I will
answer you with the best of my ability.  And if I don't know the answer,
I will find out for you.  Thanks and Enjoy the Ride.
